Eye test (NHS and Private)

Our eye examinations usually last about half an hour but we will advise you if you require any extra specific tests and how long these may take.

The health of your eyes matters to you and it matters to us too, which is why we are offering new type of screening called OCT. (Click for more information).

The test could pick up any early signs of eye conditions before you are aware of any symptoms. It is important to undertake regular tests if you have Diabetes, Macular degeneration or Glaucoma.

Other tests we will carry out include binocular assessment (how well the eyes work together), peripheral visual field analysis and an intraocular pressure measurement which is one of the most important checks for any presence of glaucoma.

It is recommended that adults are tested every two years unless advised otherwise by an Optician. Over 70’s, under 16’s and adults with some medical conditions are advised to be tested more frequently (usually annually).

The test involves checking the standard of vision and whether spectacles would be needed to correct your sight.

All of the findings will be explained to you and if you require spectacles you will then be seen by the Dispensing Optician. You will be given professional advice in frame and lens selection.
